General Terms & Conditions of Service

All customers are expected to abide by the terms and conditions set out below. In the unlikely event of failing to do so, a customer may be requested to cease lessons with Sink or Swim. A refund will not be eligible in these circumstances.

General Conditions

  • Parents or guardians are responsible for their children at all times and must remain on the premises whilst their lessons take place. If for any reason a parent or guardian is not present they must inform the manager or teacher prior to the lesson.
  • Customers accept that there will be physical contact between the teacher and their child in a professional manner, in order to provide our services.
  • Swimmers should not enter the pool until the teacher says it is safe to do so and must tell the teacher if leaving the pool prior to the end of the session.
  • Customers should inform the teacher or manager of any health issues that may be relevant prior to thier lesson.
  • Abuse to any member of staff either verbally or physical will not be tolerated and will be reported to the appropriate authorities at the sole discretion of Sink or Swim Swimming School.
  • No dogs (other than guide and/or assistance dogs) or other pets are to be brought onto the premises or within the grounds of the school.

Arriving to / Leaving the Pool 

  • Please adhere to signposting and or roadmarkings depicting speed limits and traffic flow when both entering and leaving the school grounds.
  • Entrance to the facitilties is only guaranteed via the designated access points as outlined in the above ‘How to find us’. We cannot guarantee entry to the premises via any other avenue.
  • Parking is available at both sites. Please only park in the designated parking areas.
  • Sink or Swim cannot be held responsible for any consequential loss or damage to your vehicle or property whilst on school grounds.
  • Smoking and vaping (including e-cigarettes) is stricly forbidden within any building or whilst present anywhere within school grounds.
  • To guarantee access and improve changing room comfort, please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your lesson and aim to leave no more than 15 minutes after. Due to automated access at some of our facilities late arrivals may be delayed accessing the pool.

Preparation for / During Lessons

  • Howells School – For hygiene purposes external footwear must be removed upon entry to the pool hall and placed in the storage area provided. The use of separate clean flip-flops / sandals is allowed, otherwise customers must remain bare foot when moving around the poolside.
  • Due to access and hygiene restrictions, no buggies, bikes or scooters are permitted inside the pool building.
  • To keep changing rooms and cubicles vacant when needed we ask that all parents keep your child’s swimming bag and belongings with you whilst their lesson is taking place.
  • All property is brought on or to the premises at the owner’s risk.
  • All plasters and hair clips must be removed before entering the pool.
  • Long hair should be tied back and or a swimming cap worn
  • No jewellery should be worn during a swimming lesson. Religious or medical bracelets are allowed but should not distract the swimmer from their lesson.
  • All swimmers must shower and use the toilet before entering the pool.
  • All children should wear appropriate fitting costumes/trunks or shorts specifically designed for swimming. Baggy costumes/trunks can hamper movement. The use of underwear as swimming attire is strictly not allowed.
  • All pool users and patrons of Sink or Swim must adhere to the facility signage and pool rules at all times.
  • The use of photography or videography equipment of any kind is strictly forbidden anywhere inside the pool building.
  • Food is not to be consumed in the pool buildings and please minimise mess on the floor. (mud, grass).

Class Cancellations / Missed Lessons / Instructor Absence

  • You have the right to cancel this booking without cause within 3 days of the date that this confirmation was issued. The value of any remaining lessons will be refunded in full. After this time any cancellelation must adhere to the terms outlined below.
  • If this is your first booking with Sink Or Swim your first 6 session period is treated as a trial. During this trial you reserve the right to cancel your class booking at any time without any notice required. The value of any scheduled lessons that reman will be refunded in full. All subsequent bookings regardless of delay must adhere to the general cancellation terms outlined below.
  • Regardless of your booked duration you have the right to cancel your class booking at any time upon reciept of 14 days written notice. You are permitted to attend all scheduled lessons during the 14 day period and we will refund the total value of any scheduled lessons remainng.
  • In the event that you are unable to attend a scheduled session due to sickness or holiday, we regret that we are unable to refund or roll over your missed session as your payment secures your place in the class, witholding it from any other new or waiting customer.
  • In the case of any prolonged absence (i.e broken limb) each case will be considered individually and subject to the impact on other customers, may be given the option of credit towards the missed lessons or carrying lessons over at a later date.
  • No refunds will be offered in the case of circumstances deemed to be outside of our control, Force Majeure such as adverse weather conditions, heavy traffic, power interrutpion or ‘acts of god’.
  • In the event of class cancellation by us due to bank holidays or pool closure notices recieved from the school you will not be charged for the cancelled session and your pre-paid lesson credit will simply roll over.
  • In the unlikely event of a pool closure we will endeavour to alert customers ASAP. If the notice period is more than 24hrs we will issue emails to inform customers of the closure. If the notice period is less than 24hrs we will also issue notice via our Whatsapp Customer Announcement Group. It is the customers sole responsibilty to ensure that their swimmers contact information is kept up to date and Sink or Swim will not reimburse any expense caused by a customer faiing to pickup these messages.
  • In the event of an instructor absence, Sink or Swim retains the right to change the instructor to ensure the continuation of the lesson. In very rare circumstances this may involve combining classes in order to accomodate, however we endeavour never to exceed our advertisied maximum class capacities.
