Situated on the edge of Llandaff Fields, just off Cardiff Road, stands the magnificent Victorian Gothic building of Howells School. Founded in 1860, it has earned a reputation for excellence and is recognised as one of Wales’ leading independent day schools. The school offers outstanding facilities, including a 25m x 10m swimming pool originally built in 1937, with a maximum depth of 2.8 metres. It is one of the deepest pools in Cardiff, making it one of only a few local facilities suitable for teaching diving skills and a firm favourite among Sink or Swimmers.

Venue Considerations / Rules :

  • Please adhere to the on site speed limits and one-way traffic system when entering and exiting the school.
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted anywhere within school grounds.
  • No dogs are permitted on school grounds unless designated service animals.
  • No photography or recording of any kind is permitted inside the pool building.
  • Please remain seated during lessons and refrain from roaming around poolside. Floors are constantly wet and there is no barrier between yourself and the pool edge.
  • For hygiene reason please remove any external footwear when moving around the poolside. Barefoot or separate flip-flops, over-shoes are permitted.
  • Please do not bring glass of any kind into the pool hall, and no food is to be consumed whilst on poolside.
